Installing VMware Horizon Client

How do I install the VMware Horizon Client?

Environment

  • Windows
  • Mac OS X
  • VMware Horizon Client

Cause

I need to connect to Remote.usd.edu.

Resolution

Windows

  1. Navigate to Remote.USD.edu
  2. Click Install VMware Horizon Client
  3. Run the VMware-Horizon.exe file that downloads
  4. Click Agree and Install
  5. Click Finish
  6. Click Restart Now to restart your computer to finish installation
    Note: Be sure to save any open work before restarting

Mac OS X

  1. Navigate to Remote.USD.edu
  2. Click Install VMware Horizon Client
  3. Run the VMware-Horizon.dmg file that downloads
  4. Click Agree
  5. Click and Drag VMware Horizon Client to the Applications folder
  6. Close the window showing the VMware Horizon Client and the Applications folder
  7. Click Launchpad
  8. Click VMware Horizon Client
  9. If prompted that VMware Horizon Client is an app downloaded from the Internet click Open
  10. When prompted that a new version of VMware Horizon Client is available click Download and Install
  11. Click Install and Relaunch when prompted that Vmware Horizon Client is ready to install an update
  12. Enter the Administrator password for your Mac if prompted, and click OK
