How to request a departmental, organizational, or shared email address

How do I go about setting up an email address that multiple people will receive emails from?

I would like to set up an email for our department

  • Office 365 Shared Mailbox
  • USD Department Account
  • USD Student Org Account
  • USD Faculty Org Account
  • Rapid Identity
  • Microsoft 365 Admin Center

Resolution

Note: ITS no longer supports accounts and shared passwords, we can only provide a shared email address

  1. Review Departmental or Shared Mailbox service to see an overview and benefits of using a department or shared mailbox
  2. Click the Request Dept/Shared Mailbox link on this page to request an mailbox
  3. In the Request Form enter the following information
    1. Enter text for a display name in Requested Name
    2. Enter new account’s email address in Requested Email Address 
    3. Select the requesting Department
    4. Enter a reason for the requested email address under Purpose
    5. List the names of the people who need to access the mailbox
  4. Click REQUEST ACCOUNT
    Note: 
    Expected turn around time on this type of request is 10 days
