D2L Navigation Bar

Question

What is the D2L Navigation Bar?

Answer

  1. The Navigation Bar is found at the top of your screen and contains global links. These links will be displayed in the same location and format throughout D2L. The following are commonly used:
  2. My Home: This link is a shortcut back to the My Home page. The shortcut is displayed as a house icon
  3. Select a course: This shortcut is displayed as a waffle shaped icon. There is a quick course selector located in the minibar. Users can use this to select a different course without going back to the My Home page. Users can also pin favorite classes to the course selector pull-down menu. This shortcut is displayed as a waffle shaped icon
  4. Message Alerts: Displayed as an envelope icon. This link lets you access D2L email, as well as the Pager
  5. Subscription Alerts: The subscription tool is used to subscribe to discussion, dropbox, or quiz alerts. This shortcut is displayed as a multiple message text box icon
  6. Update Alerts: This link allows you to view any discussion, dropbox, or quiz alerts (If you have subscribed to receive these alerts). This shortcut is displayed as a bell icon
  7. Admin Tools: Grants access to User Related, Organization Related, and ePortfolio (not commonly used)

In addition, in the upper left-hand corner of the screen, you have 5 additional options:

  • Self-Registration: if you have not been instructed to use this option, you will not need to. This allows you to self-register for courses that have been open to the public. Note that you probably will not be receiving course credit for these courses unless you have been instructed otherwise
  • Reports: Any reports you have submitted
  • Help: D2L Student Guides, Instructor Guides, Ally Course Report, and Ally Department Report
  • Quick Eval: View submission and activities done by students
  • Insights Portal: Allows faculty to look further into Adoption, Engagement and Assessment Quality
