Issue/Question
How can I setup Zoom recordings to automatically move to a specific class in the D2L Panopto video library?
How can I setup Zoom so that everything will copy automatically to Panopto in D2L class and enable tech fellows to edit captions.
How to automate Zoom video recordings to transfer to Panopto archiving so that I do not have to manually?
Environment
- Zoom
- Panopto
- D2L
- Recording
- Library
Resolution
- You need to have Opted-In to have your Panopto Recordings Moved to D2L
- Each D2L course needs to have Panopto External Learning Tool added/enabled. See Adding Panopto to D2L.
- Schedule the Zoom meetings for the course in D2L. Copy the meeting ID for the scheduled Zoom meetings.
Note: Each course that you would like to record in D2L should have a unique Zoom meeting ID
Example:
- Set ECON 201 class to a Zoom meeting id # (11111111 for ECON 201)
- Set BADM 450 class to a Zoom meeting id # (2222222 for BADM 450)
- Sign in to Panopto
- Click the circle with your initials at the top right
- Select User Settings
- Click Add New under Meeting Import Settings - Automatic Import to add your classes and/or meetings
- Enter the Meeting ID for the course, select the course folder in the drop down menu, and click Save
Example: Meeting ID Folder Name
1111111 2021 Fall - ECON 201
2222222 2021 Fall - BADM 450
Only students in ECON 201 can see the ECON 201 recordings and only students in BADM 450 can see the BADM 450 recordings, based on D2L class permissions.
- You can elevate access by granting creator or publisher role in the class in Panopto
Note: Elevated users can edit captions
Note: Once this is set up, Zoom recordings will automatically copy to Panopto within the D2L class folder. Tech fellows could potentially edit captions, and teachers would just do initial setup.
