To ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our email system, we are implementing sending limits for emails.
Here’s why this change is essential:
- Preventing Spam and Abuse: Setting limits helps protect our domain reputation by reducing the risk of unauthorized use or accidental spam-like activity. This prevents USD email from being blocked by services like GMAIL.
- Ensuring Deliverability: High email volumes can trigger spam filters, causing delays or rejections. Limits help maintain efficient and successful email delivery.
- Enhancing Security: Restricting large-scale email sends minimizes exposure to phishing attacks and misuse of accounts if they are compromised.
- Fair Resource Use: Limits ensure equitable access to resources, preventing email system slowdowns for everyone.

Resolution
- Exceeding the current protection settings will block outbound mail for the sender
- If you need to send to more than 500 recipients please request a LISTSERV list.
- Request Marketing to facilitate an email to faculty and staff, current students and/or prospective students
