Adding Content Controls in Word

Question

How do I add content controls in Word?

Answer

It should be noted that using Content Controls can be used in a template to easily help fill in information. Content Controls are found in the Developer tab, in the Controls group.

Making the Developer tab visible on the Ribbon:

  1. When you start Microsoft Word 2016, you may not be able to see the Developer tab on the Ribbon
    1. In order to make this tab accessible, you must follow the procedure below to change your Ribbon settings
  2. Select the File tab and click Options
  3. On the left sidebar select the Customize Ribbon tool
  4. On the right side ensure that the  next to Developer is selected
  5. This will add the Developer tab to the ribbon on the right side next to the View tab
  6. Click Ok
