My Home Widgets in D2L

Question

What are my Home Widgets in D2L?

Answer

The My Home page contains 5 widgets:

  • News
  • My Settings
  • My Courses
  • Calendar,
  • Respondus

My Settings: Displays your name, profile picture, and five optional settings:

  1. Profile: Create and edit a profile that will be visible to other D2L users (especially important for online instructors)
  2. Account Settings: Change password, the font (only displayed to you), time zone, and other various account settings
  3. Notifications: Determines how D2L sends notifications to faculty
  4. Email address: allows you to change your existing email address (USD primary should be used)
  5. Locker: The locker tool is a place where users can store and retrieve files. Files in a personal locker are not accessible to others unless they are made public. Files stored in the locker can be accessed from any course. We recommend using Manage Files instead.

My Courses: This widget displays all of the courses for which you are currently enrolled. If you are enrolled in more than twelve courses, there is a View All Coursees (20+) link at the bottom of the page.

Calendar: the calendar tool can be used to link course-related events and store personal events.

News: This tool is used to communicate updates, changes, and new information to all D2L users from SDBOR. This widget cannot be edited on your "My Home" page, but you will be able to utilize a similar widget and feature within your individual courses that can be edited to reflect your course

Respondus: Contains the tool to import assessments questions into your D2L course
