Problem Opening Excel Spreadsheet

Issue/Question

Unable to start Excel or open Excel spreadsheets

Excel will lock up when I am working in a document.  While at other times it will not open up a file on the One Drive and also freezes up.

Environment

  • Windows
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Onedrive

Cause

Multiple Causes

Resolution

  1. If not able to open a spreadsheet by double-clicking on the file
    1. Open Excel
    2. Click File
    3. Click Open
    4. Locate and click desired file
    5. Follow prompts
  2. If not able to open a spreadsheet while off campus or on wifi
    1. Click 
    2. Type Settings
    3. Open Settings
    4. Click Devices
    5. Click Printers & Scanners
    6. Un-Check Let Windows manage my default printer
    7. Click Microsoft Print to PDF
    8. Click Manage
    9. Click Set as default
