Enabling Breakout Rooms in Zoom

Issue/Question

How do I enable breakout rooms in Zoom?

Environment

  • Zoom

Cause

I want to be able to subdivide my Zoom meeting.

Resolution

  1. Log in to Zoom
  2. Click Sign In
  3. Sign In with your USD credentials
  4. Click Settings on the left side of the screen
  5. Click In Meeting (Advanced)
  6. Click the gray radio button next to Breakout Room
Note: The radio button will turn blue.  If the radio button is already blue, Breakout Rooms are already enabled.
  7. If you don't see this option it is possible you are not a licensed user.  Faculty and Staff accounts are licensed by default, student accounts are not.

If you need to request a licensed account please contact the Service Desk with the following information:
    1. Full Name
    2. Reason a licensed account is needed

Note:  A maximum of 200 participants may be pre-assigned to breakout rooms prior to the meeting start

ITS STAFF ONLY
