Updating In Place Windows to Current Version

Issue/Question

Windows 10 needs new version installed.

Windows 1511, 1709, 1909, 2004, 21H1 etc old versions

Update Windows 10 to 21H2 or latest version

Environment

• Windows 10
• PC

Cause

Computer updates do not currently update the version of Windows 10. Some software requires a base level that might be higher that what is installed

Resolution

1. Log into the computer with administrator credentials
   Note: If you are not able to do this please contact the Service Desk for assistance
2. Download software:
   • Windows 10
   • Windows 11 
3. Run Installer and follow the prompts
4. It will download, verify, install, reboot a few times
5. Log into the computer and do a quick test
