Issue with activating Office Pro Plus on a Mac

I am unable to activate Office on a Mac

Error: Your account ****.******** doesn't allow editing on a mac. To learn more, contact your Admin about your office plan.

Environment

  • Mac OS
  • Office Pro Plus

Cause

Invalid Keychain stored on Mac

Old folders stored on Mac

Resolution

  1. Close all Office programs
  2. Download and run the License Removal Tool
  3. Open Word
  4. Follow activation prompts
    Note: If this does not resolve the issue, proceed to step 5
  5. Uninstall Office 365 from the Mac.
  6. Click at top right of Desktop
  7. Type Keychain
  8. Select Keychain Access
  9. Search Office
  10. Delete all instances containing Office
  11. Click at top right of the Desktop
  12. Type UBF8T346G9
  13. Open the folder location
  14. Open Containing Folder
  15. Select the following folders and drag them to the Trash
    1. UBF8T346G9.ms
    2. UBF8T346G9.Office
    3. UBF8T346G9.OfficeOsfWebHost
  16. Restart the Mac
  17. Install a fresh copy of Office 365
