Environment

  • Duo Multi-Factor Authentication

Resolution

Note: You will need to complete the Duo setup in one sitting. If you start it and quit, you will need to contact the Service Desk for assistance.

Note: Instructions are best followed from a computer. 

Mobile Phone

Note: Phone must be connected to wi-fi or have a cell signal to complete Duo setup

  1. On your phone
    1. Install Duo Mobile app from your phone's app store
  2. On your computer
    1. Open mail.usd.edu
    2. Sign on with USD credentials
    3. Click Get Started
    4. Click Duo Mobile
    5. Enter your phone number
    6. Click Continue
    7. Click Yes, it's correct if the phone # is correct
    8. Click Next
    9. Open the Duo Mobile app on your phone
    10. With your phone, Scan the barcode on the computer screen
      Note: If you are doing this on your phone, click the link under the barcode
    11. Click Continue
    12. Instructions to Enable Duo Restore

Tablet

  1. Install Duo Mobile app from your tablet's app store
  2. Open mail.usd.edu
  3. Sign on with USD credentials
  4. Click Get Started
  5. Click Duo Mobile
  6. Click I have a tablet
  7. Click Next
  8. Open the Duo Mobile app
  9. Tap the + button
  10. Scan the barcode on the computer screen
  11. Click Continue

Yubico Security Key

Note: Yubico keys will not work with the VPN or remote.usd.edu
Note: Yubico keys do not work with Internet Explorer browser.  They will work with Safari, Chrome, and Firefox

  1. Open mail.usd.edu
  2. Sign on with USD credentials
  3. Click Security Key
  4. Click Continue
  5. Insert your key into the computer
  6. Tap the metal contact on the security key
  7. Click Continue
