Overview
Lecture capture software allows you to record lectures for online courses, supplemental material, archive for students that couldn’t be at class or want to review the lecture. Recordings are organized for students to easily browse or search.
Panopto software can be installed on your laptop or office computer by clicking Install Panopto. You will need to have a microphone and webcam on your computer.
Several Smart Classrooms are equipped with Panopto lecture recording equipment. In these rooms, the recording equipment must be scheduled to record your class. You can request a one-time recording or recurring recordings for the entire semester.

- Sioux Falls Med and Rapid City Med requests for recordings go through the Videographer/Editor, Office of the Dean, Medical School for these rooms:
- Rapid City Med 210, 212
- Sioux Falls Med L15, 105, 106, 126, 143, 289
Before we can schedule the recordings, you will need to have added the Panopto learning tool to your D2L class.
To install Panopto in a room not listed above, contact the Service Desk.
Benefits
Lecture recording offers many benefits to the students, allowing them to review lecture material on their own time to better understand complex topics or prepare for an upcoming quiz or test.
Scheduling the recording is required in rooms equipped with permanently installed lecture capture equipment. Once scheduled, you don't have to think about it when starting your class. Simply turn on your microphone and start teaching
