Overview
Academic and career advising provides an educational experience to help students explore and navigate a path to degree completion and a plan for the future.
Students receive individual advising during summer registration programs. Soon after they arrive on campus, students are assigned an advisor who will remain with them for their first three semesters at USD. Once students reach 45 credit hours they will be assigned to a new academic advisor, who will be a faculty member in the department or program of their first major. The academic advisor is just one of many advising resources available to students.
Advising holds are placed on student accounts each semester, preventing students from registering unless they meet with an assigned advisor first. Only a student’s assigned advisor(s) can remove the advising holds.
