Reply All email issues with EABSSC.USD.EDU email addresses

Issue/Question

Reply All does not work when there are recipients with @eabssc.usd.edu addresses mixed with recipients with other email addresses

Environment

  • Microsoft Outlook

Cause

Mixing @eabssc.usd.edu email addresses with @usd.edu or @coyotes.usd.edu email addresses has caused issues when attempting to reply all to the email - not all the email addresses are captured on the To: line

If you send an email to an eabssc.usd.edu email address, all future communications (for THAT email chain) will use the eabssc.usd.edu email addresses, from both the FROM and TO side so that it is tracked in Coyote Connections - this is the default behavior of the eabssc.usd.edu emailing feature

Resolution

  1. eabssc.usd.edu emails (coming from Coyote Connections) are not uncommon - Coyote Connections admins send out notices to fill out Progress Reports to faculty each term among other emails - these are non-issues
  2. Issues arise when composing emails in Outlook and including an @eabssc.usd.edu email address inadvertently
  3. When composing an email, carefully select the TO: email addresses so that @eabssc.usd.edu emails are not included with @usd.edu and other email addresses
  4. Clearing cached email addresses can help to avert this issue - follow article Email Addresses not Populating Correctly to remove @eabssc.usd.edu email addresses from your Outlook cache
