Installing a Network Printer Using the IP Address

Issue/Question

How do I install a network printer on a remote site that does not have Pharos.

Environment

  • Windows

Resolution

  1. Right-click
  2. Click Search
  3. Type Printers & Scanners
  4. Click on the result
  5. Click Add a printer or scanner
  6. Click The printer that I want isn't listed
  7. Check Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings
  8. Click Next
  9. Check Create a new port
  10. Select Standard TCP/IP Port from the drop down menu
  11. Click Next
  12. Type the IPV4 address of the printer found in the configuration or displayed in the window on the printer
  13.  Click Next
  14.  Click OK
  15.  Select correct printer model driver from the list
    Note: If you have a disk, click have disk, if not, run Windows update or download correct driver from the manufacturer's website
  16. Name the printer something you will recognize
  17.  Click Next
  18.  Select Do not share this printer
  19.  Click Next
