Welcome to the University of South Dakota! Now that you are here in South Dakota, the role of the Gallagher International Center shifts from enrollment assistance to international student services. A variety of services are offered.
International Student Check-in
One of the main services we provide is sharing and explaining the information you need to maintain good status as an F-1 or J-1 student visa holder. At Orientation we will cover the essentials of staying in good status, but for now, know that the information you provide on this form will be entered into either the USCIS SEVIS system or into your USD student record.
Declaration of Final Term (DFT) - A declaration of final term must be submitted in your final semester.
Submit a declaration of final term to ensure your I-20 end date is updated accurately. This is especially important if you plan on applying for employment benefits after graduation. Any student who submits a DFT will have their program end date on their I-20 shortened the appropriate date. You must also end any on-campus employment on that date as well.
Note: if you would like to take less than a full course load for your final term, you only need to fill out the Declaration of Final Term, not it and the Reduced Course Load form.
