How do I connect to eduroam wireless network
Environment
- eduroam
- Windows OS
- macOS
- Chrome OS
- Android
- iOS
Resolution
Note: You need to disconnect from SDVisitor before completing the steps below
Windows OS
- Click eduroam in the wireless network list
- Click Connect
- Type your USD email address and password into the username/password fields
Note: If you have an older style username, use that with @usd.edu instead of first.last@usd.edu
Note: If this is a university-owned computer, you may not be prompted for your username/password
- Click OK
- Click Connect
- A browser should pop up, proceed to step 7, If not, follow steps 6 a
Note: If this is a university-owned computer, you may be prompted for your username/password
- Open a Web Browser
- Attempt to navigate to the URL NAC.usd.edu
- If you are presented with a USD webpage asking you to continue proceed to step 7
- If the page displays an error message look for and Click the Advanced option link
- Click Proceed Anyway(NAC.usd.edu)
- Click Continue
- Your device will now be registered on the network
macOS
Note: If you have connected to eduroam before at another university and are unable to connect at USD, You will need to remove the eduroam profile from your computer.
- Click eduroam in your wireless network list
- Type your USD email address and password into the username/password fields
Note: If you have an older style username use that with @usd.edu instead of first.last@usd.edu
- Click Join
- Click Continue
- Approve the Update Settings if the computer requests it
- A browser window will pop up
- Click Continue
- Your device will now be registered on the network
- If you have a previous connection to eduroam from another school
- Open Settings
- Click Profiles
- Remove eduroam profile
Note: Additional steps may be necessary. See Removing Eduroam Profile on macOS
Android/Chromebook
Note: Android settings can be found in various places depending on your device. Some may be found under Advanced Settings
Note: If you have problems with the following instructions, turn your phone to Airplane mode and turn wireless back on
- Tap eduroam in your wireless list
- The following information should be set
Note: Do not use Randomized MAC. Use Phone MAC
- EAP Method - PEAP
- Phase 2 authentication - MSCHAPV2
- Certificate - Do not validate
- Identity - USD email address
Note: If you have an older style username use that with @usd.edu instead of first.last@usd.edu
- Password - USD password
- If it asks for a domain
- domain - usd.edu
- Identity - first.last@usd.edu
- Tap Connect
- Open a web browser
- Go to nac.usd.edu website
- Tap Continue
- Your device will now be registered on the network
- If you set your device to airplane mode you can turn off airplane mode
Google Pixel and Other Newer Android phones on Android 11 (Specific)
- Tap eduroam in your wireless list
- The following information should be set
Note: Do not use Randomized MAC. Use Phone MAC
- EAP Method - PEAP
- Phase 2 authentication - MSCHAPV2
- CA Certificate - Use system certificates
- Online Certificates Status - Request Certificate Status
- If it asks for a domain
- domain - usd.edu
- Identity - USD email address
Note: If you have an older style username use that with @usd.edu instead of first.last@usd.edu
- Password - USD password
Note: Anonymous - Delete this line if it auto populates so the line is blank
- Tap Connect
- Open a web browser
- Go to nac.usd.edu website
- Tap Continue
- Your device will now be registered on the network
- If you set your device to airplane mode, you can turn off airplane mode
iOS
Note: If you have problems with the following instructions, turn your phone to Airplane mode and turn wireless back on
- Tap Settings
- Tap Wi-Fi
- Tap eduroam
- Type your USD email address and password into the username/password fields
Note: If you have an older style username use that with @usd.edu instead of first.last@usd.edu
- Tap Join
- Tap Trust
- A browser should pop up, proceed to step 8, If not, follow steps 7 a
Note: If this is a university-owned device, you may be prompted for your username/password
- Open a Web Browser
- Navigate to NAC.usd.edu
- If you are presented with a USD webpage asking you to continue proceed to step 8
- If the page displays an error message look for and Click the Advanced option link
- Click Proceed Anyway(NAC.usd.edu)
- Tap Continue
- Your device will now be registered on the network
- If you set your device to airplane mode you can turn off airplane mode
