Add or Change Keyboard Language in Windows

Issue/Question

Windows is not accepting my username or password

Environment

  • Windows 7

Cause

Keyboard language uses different characters

Resolution

Change Windows 7 Keyboard to Different Language   

  1. Click Windows Start button
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Click Region and Language
  4. Click Change keyboards...
  5. If desired Default input language is not listed
    1. Click Add...
    2. Scroll to the desired language and click check box next to the language
    3. Click OK
  6. Select desired Default input language
  7. Click OK
  8. At the lower left of the screen click on the abbreviation of the current language
  9. Click on the desired language

Steps to Add a Keyboard Language

  1. Open Settings and select Time & language from the left sidebar
  2. Click Language & region
  3. Under Preferred languages, click Add a language and select the desired language
  4. Follow the prompts to install; you can uncheck "Set as my Windows display language" if you only want the keyboard
