Computer Freezes or Is Locking Up

Issue/Question

My computer is locking up and has a bunch of random popups constantly opening.  I have tried restarting and am unsuccessful and task manager will not open

Computer won't respond to internet or opening documents

My computer is stuck at the login screen

My computer is stuck at the restart screen

Machine is at 100% disk usage and it takes a very log time to open applications

Environment

• Windows 10
• Windows 11

Cause

Multiple Causes

Resolution

1. Turn off the computer by holding the power button on the computer in for 10 seconds
2. Turn the system back on
3. If the computer still is experiencing the problem, please contact the Service Desk with the following information
   1. Name
   2. Location of the computer
   3. Computer NI number
