Computer Needing Updates

Issue/Question

I have a laptop that needs to have updates

Please evaluate my computer

Screen visibility is extremely poor upon startup. When the user wants to use the computer we have to restart it every time because it will not come out of sleep mode

I need to request help setting up my two other monitors in my office

Laptop display occasionally goes blank for several minutes

My screen will not wake up so I can log in anymore

I need my scanner set up on my computer. It got removed somehow.

Environment

• Windows 10
• Windows Update
• Driver Update

Cause

Laptop hasn't been used for a while

Drivers are out of date

Resolution

Note: USD owned laptops will receive updates automatically through Software Center

1. Click in the Search Box next to
2. Type Check for updates
3. Click Check for updates
4. Repeat process until it says You're up to date
5. Click in the Search Box next to
6. Type Device Manager
7. Select Device Manager
8. Click the on the Device you need to update
9. Right Click the Device and Select Update Driver Software
10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for each Device you need to update
11. For Lenovo computer driver updates:
    1. Go to Lenovo System Update
    2. Click Get Lenovo System Update
    3. Click Download tool now
    4. Click How to run Lenovo System Update and follow instructions
12. For HP computer driver updates:
    1. Go to HP Support
    2. Follow prompts to update drivers on computer
