Unable to Log In to Personal Computer

Issue/Question

I am not able to log into my computer. I was able to a short time ago.

Environment

  • Windows
  • InTune

Resolution

  1. At the User Log in Screen, boot into Safe Mode by holding down SHIFT, then click power button, choose Restart
  2. Click Troubleshoot
  3. Click Advanced Options
  4. Click Startup Settings
  5. Click Restart
  6. Press 5 for Enable Safe Mode With Networking
  7. The computer will now boot into a newly created Admin account
  8. Press  + X
  9. Click Computer Management
  10. Select Local Users and Groups
  11. Right-click Users
  12. Choose New User
  13. Enter a user name and password
  14. Uncheck user must change password at next logon
  15. Click OK
  16. Double click the new account
  17. Click Member Of tab
  18. Click Add
  19. In the box that says Enter the object name to select, type Administrators
  20. Click Check Names
  21. Click OK
  22. Close out of the windows
  23. Restart the computer
  24. Log into the newly created account
  25. Open the C drive
  26. Open Users
  27. The users files can be located in their previous user name
  28. Copy the folders from the previous user folder to the new user folder
