Issue/Question

I sent an email through D2L but my instructor did not receive it

I receive the following response for each email I try to send in D2L
Error: Recipient cannot receive

I can only send email through D2L mail

Error: Your message to brightspace@d2l.sdbor.edu couldn't be delivered

Environment

  • Desire2Learn (D2L)

Resolution

Note: As of August 8th, 2019, D2L users will only be able to send messages through D2L.

All messages will be forwarded to the recipient's preferred external email address as defined in Self-Service (Banner); in most cases this will be a user's university-issued email address. Any subsequent replies, forwards, etc., will be handled outside of D2L, just like regular email

  1. D2L email no longer contains an inbox
    1. The exception is the sent mail folder will still be available
  2. D2L email can only send to external email accounts
  3. You cannot send email to the Brightspace@d2l.sdbor.edu address
