Adopting course material in the USD Online Bookstore

Tags Akademos

Issue/Question

  • How do I add books or other materials for my courses
  • What do I do if the site is set to read-only mode
  • How do I go about getting a course registration put on the online bookstore?

Environment

  • USD Instructors
  • usd.textbookx.com
  • USD Online Bookstore
  • usd.edu/textbooks

Cause

Books need to be adopted to the course

Resolution

  1. Login to the Online Bookstore using your USD credentials
  2. Courses that are listed in Banner are automatically loaded to the Online Bookstore
  3. To adopt materials, follow the attached two page guide or a more detailed guide from the USD Online Bookstore Adoption Portal help page
  4. View the tutorial videos
Note: the ISBNs should still be added to D2L
  5. If a course pack is needed, follow Creating a Course Pack
  6. If First Day Access Materials (FDAs) are needed follow: Adding First Day Access Materials (FDAs) to the Online Bookstore
  7. Please note the deadlines for adding books sent to you by USD Academic Affairs
    1. This is necessary so that Akademos/Textbookx can verify all materials are available and in sufficient supply for our courses
    2. This also helps them find the best prices for our students
    3. If no materials are needed, indicate in the adoption portal; otherwise, students will see the message Course items for this class have not yet been submitted by your instructor. Please check back.
Note: After the deadline, the site is set to read-only mode. If you are unable to complete your adoption, email Akademos at usdonlinebookstore@vitalsource.com, Department Chairs or their approved admins to enter late adoptions.

Contact Charlie's Bookstore & Fan Shop online or in the MUC if you need further assistance
