Restoring D2L Department Head Access to Department Courses

Issue/Question

I no longer have access to the courses in my department and I am the department chair/head

Environment

• Desire2Learn (D2L)

Cause

With the start of 2019 Summer Semester, our courses are now being imported from Banner-Student and the department field is not being imported yet.  This should be fixed by the end of June 2019

Resolution

Please send the following instructions to your department faculty members: 

1. Login to D2L
2. Navigate to your Course Home Page
3. Select Resources > Classlist
4. Select Add Participant > Add Existing User
5. Search for your department heads name or ID number
6. Select the check box next to their name
7. Select Univ Instructor for the role
8. Select the section – Note: if you have a combined course, you will need to do this for each section
9. Repeat steps 1-7 for each course offering
