Unable to Read D2L Assignments

Issue/Question

I cannot view the D2L course material correctly but when I download the Word document it works

Error: We experienced an error trying to open the file

Environment

  • Desire2Learn(D2L)
  • Microsoft Word

Cause

The browser may display the Word document differently than intended

Resolution

There are 3 possible solutions

  • Download the Word document to view the attachment
  • Use another browser to view the assignment
  • Publish the document as a .PDF file rather than Word
