Automatic captions using Panopto

Question

How do I add automatic captions using Panopto?

Answer

  1. Hover over the video in the folder and click Edit
  2. Go to the Captions tab
  3. Using the drop-down arrow next to Import Captions, select Import Automatic Captions
    1. Automatic captions will appear with time stamps to indicate when they are spoken 
  4. It is a best practice to review the automatic captions to ensure that they accurately go along with what is being said in the video 
  5. You can edit the captions by clicking on the text box you wish to change and typing in what you want to appear in the caption
  6. Once you are finished, press the Enter or Return key. This will add the caption to the current place in the timeline that you are at in the editor
  7. Once you have added all the captions, click the Apply button in the top right-hand corner
