Youtube video in Panopto

Question

How do I add a Youtube video to Panopto?

Answer

Panopto does allow you to add links to YouTube Videos at specific points in the video, and allows you to have them play automatically for your students. The steps to do this are below:

  1. In the Editor, click on the Contents tab
  2. Click on the Add a YouTube video button at the bottom
    1. This will insert a new Table of Contents entry at the location where you currently are in the video
  3. A new screen will show up asking for information related to the YouTube video you want to add to the video
  4. For Link, paste in the link to the YouTube video that you want to add
  5. For Time, enter the time in your video you want the YouTube video to begin
  6. Optional
    1. Start – this allows you to designate where in the YouTube video you want it to begin
    2. End – this allows you to designate where in the YouTube video you want it to stop playing
    3. Show YouTube Controls – if checked, the controls for the YouTube video will appear when students hover over the video
    4. Autoplay – If checked, when the Panopto session reaches the YouTube video, the video will begin playing automatically. If unchecked, the session pauses and waits for the viewer to begin watching the video
  7. Click Done when finished
