Question
How do I record on Camtasia?
Answer
The first step to begin a recording is to click the Record the screen icon in the Quick Access bar. By selecting the down arrow, you will be able to choose to either Record the screen… or Record PowerPoint….
After selecting Record the screen…, a new window will open. A number of options are available in this window.
- Select Area: Here you can select if you will be recording the entire full screen or a custom screen area (where you will select a portion of the screen).
- Recorded inputs: This is used to select if you will be recording your screen, as we as video via webcam and/or audio of your voice.
- Record: Click the red rec button when you are ready to begin recording your video.
For this tutorial, we will be selecting custom. A green box is placed on the screen and the size of it can be changed to select a single window that you would like to record.
Once you have selected the area of your screen to be recorded and have the appropriate recording inputs selected, click the red record icon. A short countdown will be shown on screen as to when the recording will begin.
During your recording, you may select the pause button to take a break, gather different notes, or bring up a different document into the recording area.
Once you have completed your recording, press the stop button and the preview window will open to allow you to view the recording you have just made.
