Laptop Screen Will Not Change Brightness

Issue/Question

Display brightness buttons are not working on the keyboard

I cannot change my display brightness on my laptop

My laptop screen will not change brightness

Environment

  • HP EliteBook 840 G5

Cause

The Hotkey software or the display driver has become corrupt or is no longer working properly

Resolution

  1. Try adjusting them using the hot keys F3 and F4
  2. Click on
  3. Type Device Manager
  4. Click on  Display Adapters
  5. Right Click  Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620
  6. Click Update Driver
  7. If that does not work, please go to HP's support page and locate the latest software HP Hotkey Support file
  8. Install the software and reboot
  9. Test to verify the issue has been resolved
