Changing the Password on a Local Account in Windows

Issue/Question

We forgot the password to our local Windows account

Environment

  • Windows

Resolution

  1. Press  Windows Key
  2. Type Computer Management
  3. Click Run as administrator
  4. Enter administrator credentials
  5. Click  Local Users and Groups
  6. Click  Users
  7. Right click the account to update
  8. Click Set Password...
  9. Click Proceed
  10. Enter new password in top box and again in second box
  11. Click OK
  12. Click OK
