The Bloomberg Excel Add-In is Missing When I Open Excel

Issue/Question

The Bloomberg Excel add-in is missing when I open Excel

Environment

  • Beacom Finance Lab
  • Microsoft Office
  • Bloomberg Excel Add-in
  • Microsoft Excel

Cause

The Bloomberg Office add-ins are a per user installation and are not installed during the Bloomberg software installation

Resolution

  1. Close all programs
  2. Click Start
  3. From the Start menu, click Bloomberg
  4. Click Install Office Add-Ins
  5. Click Install
  6. Click OK
  7. Click Close
  8. Open Excel and verify that the Bloomberg tab is on the menu bar
  9. If you receive an error, check the Task Manager for any open instances of Excel or Microsoft Office
  10. End Task on any open instances of Excel or Office
  11. From the Start menu, click Bloomberg
  12. Click Stop API process
  13. Follow the window prompts, press Enter/Go on the keyboard
  14. From the Start menu, click Bloomberg
  15. Click API Environment Diagnostics
  16. Click Start
  17. Click Yes to proceed
  18. Click OK
  19. Click Repair
  20. Wait for repair to complete
  21. From the Start menu, click Bloomberg
  22. Click Install Office Add-Ins
  23. If still having the issue try manually installing the add-in
  24. Open Excel
  25. Click File
  26. Click Options
  27. Click Add-ins
  28. From the Manage drop-down menu select Excel Add-ins
  29. Click Go...
  30. Click Browse
  31. Browse to C:\blp\API\Office Tools
  32. Select BloombergUl.xla
  33. Click Open
  34. Click OK
  35. Restart Excel
