Managing Vanity URLs

How do I create a link.usd.edu tiny URL?

How do I change or delete an existing link.usd.edu tiny URL?

Cause

A vanity (or tiny) URL is necessary to redirect to a web address that too long, too complex, or subject to change frequently

Resolution

Note: If you do not belong to Marketing Communications & University Relations or Information Technology Services please refer to Requesting a Vanity/Short URL

Note: USD branded vanity URLs are reserved for USD branded materials, such as university documents, web pages and events

1. Create a new vanity URL
   1.  https://td.usd.edu/TDClient/33/Portal/Requests/ServiceDet?ID=229
   2. This will create a ticket and marketing will follow the workflow attached to these requests
2. Modify an existing Vanity URL
   1. Go to Vanity Url Form
   2. Note: Only select ITS and Marketing Staff members have access.
   3. Click inside Vanity Url Lookup textbox and begin entering either the Vanity Short Url without "link.usd.edu/ or the Full Url that was used to create the vanity Url
      Note: to see list of current Urls click Check Box next to Vanity Url Lookup textbox
   4. Change Full Url Field, Short Url Field, and active drop down field as needed
   5. Click SAVE
