Requesting Changes to Phone Charges or Disconnect of VoIP

Issue/Question

How can I disconnect a VoIP line and remove it from our monthly billing

This phone extension no longer belongs to our department, could you change the charge?

Environment

  • Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Phones

Resolution

Note: A deactivation fee of $116.42 will apply for each line

Once a line is disconnected it may be re-purposed or reassigned to a different department

  1. Unplug the phone from the wall
  2. Contact the Service Desk with the following information:
    1. Number to disconnect
    2. An index number to charge the disconnect fee
    3. Answer the following questions
      1. Will the phone be reconnected in the future for a replacement employee
      2. If not needed, where can the phone be collected by ITS
      3. Does your department want to keep the phone number available for future use
        Note:  If you chose to retain the phone number, the monthly fee will still apply.
