Power BI Access

Issue/Question

Could I get access to the PowerBI instance of the salesforce data

Go to PowerBI report and receive message checking permissions

Need a PowerBI Pro license

I can access that link to PowerBI however I need the specific one for the problem.

• Power BI Desktop

Cause

Power BI is a cloud-based suite of business analytics tools that lets anyone connect to, visualize, and analyze data with greater speed, efficiency, and understanding. It connects users to a broad range of live data through easy-to-use dashboards, provides interactive reports, and delivers compelling visualizations that bring data to life.  

Resolution

Microsoft 365 includes Power BI Pro for faculty/staff:

1. Power BI is currently available as part of Office 365 for faculty/staff
   Note: Power BI Desktop can be downloaded here
2. Log into Office.com with your USD email address and password
3. Search for Power BI in the Office 365 search bar
4. Click  in the top right corner to download

Power BI Pro is NOT included in Microsoft 365 for students.

1. Students do have access to Power BI Free edition, which has limited collaboration, reporting and publishing capabilities.
2. Power BI Pro is still available as a standalone per-user license and can be purchased.
3. To request a Power BI Pro license, please contact the Service Desk with the following information: 
   1. Full email address of the person needing access
   2. Reason license is needed
