Using Remote Desktop on Personal Computer

Issue/Question

I cannot use RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) to connect to work computer from my personal computer

Environment

  • Windows

Cause

RDP is not supported from non USD owned hardware.

Resolution

  1. Use instructions at Connecting to Remote Access to connect to a virtual USD computer
  2. Once connected, type Remote Desktop Connection in the Windows Search Bar of the virtual computer
  3. Press Enter
  4. Type your computer name or IP address into the field
    Note: If you don't know your computer's name see Finding my Computer's Name
  5. Click Connect
  6. Click More Choices
  7. Click Use a different account
  8. Enter username as usdlocal\user.name
  9. Type your Password
  10. Click OK
  11. If prompted that the identity of the remote computer cannot be verified click Yes
