Adding Merge Fields to Slate Snippets

Issue/Question

Why are my merge fields blank when I use a snippet in a Slate email?

Environment

Cause

Snippets do not automatically have access to all person or application fields. Fields must be explicitly exported in the snippet configuration for merge fields to populate.

Resolution

  1. Go to Database → Deliver → Snippets
  2. Click on your snippet to open it
  3. Scroll down
  4. Click Export button
  5. Search for and add each field you are using in your snippet merge fields
    1. Example: Add Person > First 
  6. Click Continue
  7. Go to the Content tab of your snippet
  8. Click the {} button in the toolbar (next to the if button)
  9. Select your field from the drop down in the Merge Field pop up
  10. Click OK
  11. The merge field will be inserted with the correct syntax
