Authentication Disabled Updating macOS or Changing Settings

Issue/Question

Error: Authentication is disabled.

Error:  Failed to Authenticate

I can't install, updates or software my Mac

I changed my password recently

When I attempt to adjust my settings to enable screen sharing, I receive an "Authentication Disabled" error message.

Cause

Multiple Causes including but not limited to Password Changed Desync (Most Common) and Secure Token Desynchronization

Resolution

1.  Please contact the Service Desk with the following information: 
   1. Computer name (NI#)
   2. Error message received
   3. Time available for assistance from ITS
