Fax Machine Hasn't Been Receiving Faxes

Issue/Question

Our fax machine hasn’t been receiving faxes. Please send someone to look at it.

Environment

  • Fax Machine

Resolution

Note:  ITS only supports Fax on Sharp Multifunction Copiers. All other requests on Vermillion campus should be directed to Facilities Management for support. Problems with the fax phone lines at the Yankton Med campus should be handled by Avera.

  1. Find manual and follow steps to set the fax phone number
  2. Send a test fax to 1-855-FX-CANON (1-855-392-2666)
  3. To see when the last fax was received on the Copier,
    • Go to the Copier Tap Job Status key on the home screen
    • Tap Fax tab, and then tap the Complete key to display past receive history
  4. Contact sender and have them verify that other machines are able to receive their faxes
  5. Plug in TEST ANALOG phone
  6. Pickup Handset and you should hear dialtone
  7. Call that specific Fax Number and test that the Analog phone rings
    Note: (If you only get busy signal it is possible the phone is plugged into non configured port on the voice gateway)
  8. Dial your cell number from the Analog Phone to test other way
  9. Unplug the phone line and plug fax back in
  10. Verify Faxing Works
