Problems Printing PDFs

Issue/Question

Can't print PDFs but can print other items

When it prints, it only prints on 1/4 of the page

Some pages printing in wrong orientation

Some pages have different fonts than are set

Error: An error occurred while printing the document

Environment

  • Windows OS
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Network or Local Printer

Cause

Resolution

  1. Try printing other PDF files to identify if the problem is only with one file
  2. Verify that the page orientation print setting is correct for the PDF being printed
  3. Verify if there are multiple versions of Adobe installed
    Note: If multiple versions are installed, try printing from other versions
  4. Set Internet Browser(s) to always open PDFs in Adobe Acrobat instead of showing a preview
  5. Set Adobe Acrobat to Print as Image
    1. Open the PDF in Acrobat
    2. Click File
    3. Click Print
    4. Click Advanced
    5. Check Print as Image
    6. Click OK
    7. Click Print
  6. Reinstall Microsoft Office
  7. Contact the Service Desk to have your printer drivers updated
