Accessibility Accommodations

Overview

USD is dedicated to ensuring that all students have equal access to educational opportunities and campus resources. This service provides a range of accommodations and support to individuals with disabilities, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Students must self-disclose their disability and provide professional documentation to receive accommodations.

TO GET STARTED register with the Office of Accessibility:

  1. Choose from the list of services on this page and complete the relevant forms for the accommodation(s) requested.

  2. Read the accommodations process instructions carefully before submitting your request. You may also want to review important information and FAQ on the Office of Accessibility webpage.  You can self-book a meeting with the USD accommodation coordinator at any time in the process.

  3. New students need to submit an accommodation request, along with their supporting treatment provider documentation via Accommodate
    Note
: IEPs and 504 plans are specific to high school. They do not transfer to USD. Accommodations will be provided based on your disability and the medical documentation you provide to ensure you have access to all USD programs and services.

Returning students with no changes in their accommodation determination need to renew their accommodations each semester in Accommodate using single-sign-on (SSO).
Note: for instructions, follow Renewing Academic Accommodations without Change. If there is a change to the accommodation, please follow: Renewing Academic Accommodations with Change.

  1. If you would like your information released to a third party (parents, health care providers, etc.), download and complete the Release of Information Form and upload into Accommodate along with any other documents.

Note: If you do not have a USD email address yet, the documentation can be obtained from your health care provider, licensed counselor, or therapist and emailed to our office at accessibility@usd.edu.
