Answer
-
- Click the Exemption Request button
- Find the appropriate term and click Continue
- Review your information and update as necessary. When finished, click Save & Continue
- Find the dropdown box labelled Exemption Type Requested and select Medical, Psychological, or Disability exemption
- Read the terms and conditions outlined in the agreement
- Sign in agreement by typing your first and last name
- Note: Students must type their name exactly as it appears in the housing portal, with no extra spaces or punctuation.
- Click Save & Continue
- Download and complete the Medical Need Exemption Form
- Note: The exemption request is not complete and therefore will not be processed until this is submitted
- Upload a completed Medical Need Exemption Form and click Submit Exemption Application
- Note: Students should clarify if they are applying for an exemption or a special accommodation at this point in the process
- You should arrive at a page labelled Exemption Application Status. You can now click Exit Application
- Medical, Psychological, or Disability Exemptions are based upon the information entered by the student and verified by their care provider. These claims are then evaluated by our exemption committee to assess whether University Housing has the ability to accommodate the student's needs. Exemptions are evaluated in the order they are received by University Housing
- Note: Medical, Psychological, or Disability Exemptions are not processed until University Housing receives faxed confirmation from the students provider. After we receive confirmation, exemptions should be processed within 2-6 weeks
- There is no way for University Housing to quantify how likely it is that an exemption will get approved. The approval or denial of a housing exemption is solely based on the requirements outlined for each exemption and the university's ability to accommodate students' needs
- Note: University Housing recommends that students do not sign an off-campus lease until their exemption is approved
