Issue/Question
Is it possible to copy surveys from PsychData to Qualtrics
Environment
Cause
USD chose Qualtrics to replace all other survey software on campus
Resolution
Note: Surveys cannot be copied over but it is possible to use the following work around to import the data into a manually created Qualtrics survey that mirrors PsychData's survey, then import the data into Qualtrics
- Log into Qualtrics
- Create a Survey in Qualtrics
- Download Survey Data from Qualtrics
- Download PsychData Survey Data
- Make a copy of the Qualtrics data spreadsheet that was downloaded
- Copy the columns from the PsychData spreadsheet into the appropriate columns on the Qualtrics spreadsheet (use the copy so the original can be referenced)
Note: the PsychData data has to match format of the the sample data pulled from Qualtrics, make sure to remove the sample data in the Qualtrics spreadsheet
- If the PsychData survey does not have data for some Qualtrics column fields, leave those blank and do not map them when doing the import
- If the PsychData values and the new values do not match when importing, it is possible to map the field and map the individual items during the import
- Make sure dates are in a date format on the excel spreadsheet, if they are text, which is what they seem to export as, by default, out of PsychData
- Create a new column and use the Value Function (=Value(A3)) to convert date and time to Excel Date time
- Create a new column formatted as a Custom with format MM/DD/YYYY H:MM
- Copy column created in step 1 above and paste as values into the column created in number 2 above
- Copy column from step 3 and paste into original date column being converted
- Repeat 1-4 for each date field
- Remove columns added to get date converted
- Save the file with a name that ends with .csv -- such as, mynewfile.csv
- Import Data to the Qualtrics Survey
