Keyboard Is Not Working

Issue/Question

Keyboard is not working on desktop

Keyboard is working intermittently

A keyboard key popped off and it won't stay on

Keyboard on Mac Book pro not working

My wireless keyboard stopped working for my laptop

Keyboard has stuck keys

Arrow keys quit working

When I type there is a clicking sound, but no letters on the screen

Environment

  • Computer
  • Keyboard
  • Laptop
  • MacBook

Resolution

  1. Unplug the power from the docking station and plug it back in
  2. Reboot the computer
  3. Replace batteries
  4. Turn off Hardware Acceleration in Microsoft Office
  5. Update the computer and drivers
  6. Remove Keyboard from Device Manager
    1. Right click 
    2. Click Device Manager
    3. Right click the keyboard entry under Keyboards
    4. Click Uninstall Device
    5. Click Uninstall
    6. Reboot Computer

If the above steps do not resolve the issue please contact the Service Desk with the following information:

  1. Specify if the system is a Laptop or a Desktop
  2. What issues the keyboard is having
  3. The building and room number where you are located
  4. Times that you are available for a technician to come and troubleshoot the keyboard
