D2L Worksheet Says I Don't Have Permission To Edit On My Mac

Issue/Question

When I download and open a worksheet from D2L it gives me an error
     View Only  Your Account Firstnme.Lastname@coyote.usd.edu doesn't allow editing on a Mac.  To learn more, contact our admin about your Microsoft 365 plan.

Environment

• macOS
• Word 365
• D2L

Resolution

1. Open downloaded file
2. Click the X in the error to close the error
3. Click Word at the top of the page
4. Select Activate
5. Sign in with your email address and password and choose Work or School
