Service Center Evacuation and Severe Weather Plan

Question

  • What is my building's evacuation plan?
  • What is the severe weather plan for the Service Center?

Answer

Evacuation Plan

In the event the Service Center must be evacuated, the following procedures shall be followed.

  1. Upon activation the Plan, all occupants within the Services Center will immediately begin exiting the building through the nearest available exit route.
  2. Prior to leaving the room, any open fires, hot plates, coffee pots, or similar equipment should be turned off.
  3. Electrical equipment that cannot be left unattended for prolonged periods should also be turned off prior to exiting the room.
  4. Designated staff will quickly survey their area to assure that evacuation is in progress or completed. The following staff have been designated:
    • All offices in Corridor 199A – Brian Muehlbeier (BSPOC)
      • If Brian is absent, Pierre Suarez will take over these duties
    • All offices in Corridor 199E & Offices 128A, 128 – Reda Brewer
      • If Reda is absent, Lisa Marine will take over these duties
    • All offices in Corridor 199D & Offices 120, 116, 115 – Katie Brown
      • If Katie is absent, Cameron Lenzini will take over these duties
    • ROTC storage – No permanent occupants: BSPOC to call Shari Stark, ROTC HR assistant 605-658- 3751 to confirm no occupants are in the ROTC space after Service Center has been evacuated.
  5. All occupants within the Service Center will convene to the South of the Service Center, by the Doc Farber statue. This allows a quick assessment for any missing occupants and avoids interference with the emergency responders. Assessment of building occupants will include verifying, either visually or verbally, that occupants are not inside the building.
  6. In the event of weather conditions where shelter is desired, please go inside Old Main for comfort and safety.
