Who is on the Data Governance Management Committee?
Answer
The committee will be constituted by a panel of twelve (12) university personnel representing a cross- section of the university’s functional units. Committee membership will be apportioned as one member from each of the following areas:
- Academic Affairs
- Admissions
- Athletics
- Comptroller
- Financial Aid
- Graduate School
- Information Technology Services
- Human Resources
- Office of Research
- Registrar
- Student Services
- Health Affairs
Committee members will be appointed by senior leadership from their respective functional areas. Once appointed, members will serve permanently, or until an alternate appointment is made from the same functional area. Committee members should be authorized to make decisions for their area, be familiar with the broad data operations of their respective units and should have a basic understanding of university’s general data environment.
The committee will convene a minimum of four (4) regular meetings per year. Additional meetings may be convened as directed by the committee chairperson. A quorum will be established when a simple majority of members is present. Motions will prevail by a majority vote of members present.
One officer – a chairperson – will be elected from the committee’s membership during the committee’s first meeting of every calendar year. The chairperson will remain a voting member of the committee. The chairperson will preside at all meetings of the committee, establish meeting agendas, communicate pertinent information to committee members between meetings, serve as a spokesperson for the committee to outside constituencies, and perform all other such duties as delegated by the committee. Meeting agendas will be provided to committee members at least 24 hours prior to the corresponding meeting time. Meeting minutes will be kept by a staff designee, reviewed by the chairperson, and approved by the council at the following meeting.
