How do I access Grackle Docs? 

Answer

Grackle Docs is available for free as an Extension in Google Docs.  Log into Google.com using Chrome browser.  To access Google Docs or Google Drive, click on the Google Apps waffle icon in the upper right hand corner and then choose the app from the list. Alternatively, you can simply click on an existing Google Doc document in your Google Drive.  

From Google Doc follow these instructions:
Go to Extensions > Grackle Docs > Launch

Errors when trying to access Grackle Docs

We have been made aware that all USD-credentialed users have temporarily lost access to Grackle for Google Docs™ add-on features in Google Workspace. This disruption is the result of a recent change by Google to the way third-party add-ons are authorized. If you have never used Grackle for Google Docs™ before, skip to the steps for Reauthorizing Grackle and follow the process.

To restore access, all users must complete a one-time reauthorization process.

Here is a step-by-step process to follow:
Remove Existing Grackle Access

1. Launch Google chrome browser using your USD account.
2. Go to Google Account by clicking on the 9 dots on the top right corner and the “Account” icon (usually your initials or photo).
3. On the left menu, select Security.
4. Scroll down to “your connections to Third-party apps & services”.
5. Click on See all connections.
6. Click on GrackleD ocs or Grackle Sheets/Slides in the list of connected apps.
7. Scroll to “Grackle Docs has some access to your Google Account”.
8. Click See details.
9. Click Remove All Access.
10. Confirm you want to remove all permissions.

Reauthorize Grackle in Google Docs

1. Open a Google Doc through doc.google.com
2. Select Blank document
3. Go to Extensions
4. Select Grackle Docs → Launch (or install it again if prompted).
5. When Google prompts you for permission to run, click OK to reauthorize the add-on.
6. Select your USD Google account if prompted
7. If prompted to Sign-in, click Continue.
8. If prompted for what Grackle Docs has access to, use the select all check box and then click Continue.
9. Grackle for Google Docs™ should now function normally.
