How do I install OpenRefine?

Environment

  • Windows
  • MacOS

Cause

The University Libraries use OpenRefine for data analysis, data organization, and metadata development.

Resolution

MacOS

  1. Download OpenRefine​
  2. Double-Click the install file
  3. Drag icon into Applications
  4. Double-Click OpenRefine

Windows

  1. Download OpenRefine Windows kit with embedded Java
  2. Click  in the taskbar to open File Explorer
  3. Double-Click Downloads
  4. Right-Click the downloaded file
  5. Click Extract All
  6. Type C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenRefine in the text box
  7. Check Show extracted files when complete
  8. Click Extract
  9. Double-Click openrefine.exe
