Apply for Direct Admission to the USD Nursing Program

How do I apply for direct admission to the USD Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program? 

Answer

To be eligible for Direct Admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, prospective students must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Gain admission to USD
  • Achieve an ACT score of 27 or higher
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the designated BSN prerequisite coursework
  • Complete all prerequisite courses with a grade of "C" or above prior to commencing the Nursing program

If the above are met, the following application must be completed and received on or before midnight on the deadline in order to be given full consideration:

 

Deadlines:

  • Spring admission deadline: September 1
  • Fall admission deadline: February 1

Important:

  • Applicants for direct admission are required to submit both the Nursing BSN Direct Admission application and the prerequisite spreadsheet by the published deadline indicated on the USD Nursing website for their intended semester of entry.
  • The HESI exam is not required for direct admission candidates.
  • Please note that direct admission is available exclusively to applicants seeking enrollment in the USD Department of Nursing's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
